OCTOBER is

NATIONAL PHYSICAL THERAPY MONTH

What Can physical therapists do for you?

Here are some of the highlights!!!!

Improve Mobility & Motion

Whether it is help getting moving again after an injury, illness or surgery physical therapists are focused on improving individuals’ mobility and function. They can do this through a structured physical therapy program or developing an individualized exercise program.

Reduce the Risk of Injury

Physical therapists are experts at proper body mechanics and understand the way the body works. Developing personalized treatment programs to work on strength, flexibility and conditioning is the key to avoiding future injuries.

Improve Balance and Prevent Falls

Improving balance and coordination through a physical therapy program helps to prevent falls. Therapists are also trained to identify fall risks whether it is improper footware, poor eyesight or need of an assistive device like a cane.

Recover From Stroke

A stroke can impact one’s functional activity by causing weakness, muscle atrophy and fear. Improving strength, flexibility and regaining confidence to start moving again can be the difference in the recovery progress. Out-patient physical therapy is the perfect environment for the best outcome.

Avoid Surgery

Although it is not always possible to avoid surgeries physical therapy can reduce pain and improve function without the risk of surgery in some cases. Even if surgery is indicated pre-hab –physical therapy prior to surgery can improve recovery.

Eliminate or Reduce Pain

Physical therapists have techniques that can improve or eliminate pain many times with less or no pain medication.
